A must attend artist publisher lecture in Chicago! Gato Negro also organizes the great Rrréplica gathering that just took place in Mexico City. Attend and show some love if you can! Props to Jack from Other Forms for working to make this happen.

Mexico City-based publishing house Gato Negro was founded by activist designer León Muñoz Santini in 2013. Building on the legacy of radical independent publishing in Mexico, Gato Negro seeks to spread materials they consider urgent using a Risograph printer, which allows them to publish small runs, often. The publishing house consciously forgoes using ISBN numbers to sidestep commercial circulation, and Santini travels regularly to participate in book fairs, speak with readers, and engage audiences about his publications and processes.

It was lots of fun having León in Chicago, taking him around to bookstores, Hallagans for RISO ink, and showing him Chicago. If you are visiting Chicago, I'm happy to report that Quimby's Books now has a nice selection of Gato Negro titles for sale. They only have one copy of a variety of things so if you are interested, move fast!

Half Letter Press also got some restock from León but only of a few titles. You can order those here: https://halfletterpress.com/brands/Gato ... iones.html

The best news is that The Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago purchased a ton of Gato Negro titles after León gave a second talk there. And, this was in addition to the sizeable number of their books they already had. Make an appointment if you want to see what they've got! https://digitalcollections.saic.edu/jfabc

Thanks to everyone who made León feel welcome and turned out for his lectures.
