Foto Mercado at the Ace Hotel Chicago will be held Friday, March 22 through Sunday, March 24, 2019. This 2nd annual event will feature photo zines, photo books, and prints from exhibitors from around the country. Friday evening will be an opening event and the fest will continue that weekend.

I'll be organizing a ZINEmercado zine fest in Oakland, CA at the Starline Social Club. That'll be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019. We're currently working on registration info. Interested exhibitors can write me at fotoflow@gmail.com to be put on the info list for either event or follow @ZINEmercado on IG and ZINEmercadoChicago on FB.

Registration for Chicago Zine Fest opened today and all of the spots sold out in 10 minutes! That's just wild. Temporary Services / Half Letter Press are confirmed so I'll be there for the group. I hope others were able to get in. They do have a waiting list for those who didn't make it in time. Who said print is dead? Damn!

Fanzineist Vienna will take place in 2019 in the heart of Europe, Austria to attract the attention of a broader audience in a global scale. It will proceed for three days and exhibitors from many countries will display their published material on the exhibition stands through the fair.

Fair, which brings together small press and independent publishers, has the mission to show the culture and accessibility of zine and art book making through workshops, events, concerts, screenings and talks. It is a fair that welcomes artists, publishers and other creative people to share their stories, knowledge, love of zines and Art books.

We are open to different kind of independent art publications like art books published by artists, photographers and small publishing companies, photo books, photo zines, distros, comic books, art zines, music zines, comics zines and other types of fanzines. Racist, sexist and other discriminative content and hate speech will not be accepted.

Fanzineist Vienna is expecting artists and independent publishers from different backgrounds. The artists and publishers will be selected through online application. The diversity of sexual, racial, ethnic, cultural, national, social backgrounds, political orientations, languages, artistic forms and visions will be embraced.

In addition; Fanzineist Vienna has another Open Call for the publishers/artists who can not come to Vienna on these dates. If you are interested in contributing to the International Art Book & Zines Exhibition , please send your art book and zines to “Ybbs Strasse 23/15 1020 Vienna, Austria” until 1st of May and please don’t forget to add the information of the publication’s name, title, medium and the year. The publications received by post will be exhibited during the event.

In other news, the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center has announced that they will no longer organize the Philadelphia Art Book Fair. It would be great for other organizers to pick this up and make another fair happen in Philly. Overall this was a pretty good fair with no shortage of participants but the table cost became quite high relative to the number of participants and attendees.
